Dangerous, affected and insanitary buildings policy

Under the Building Act, Council has to adopt a policy to identify and remedy ‘dangerous, affected, or insanitary buildings’. The aims of the Act are to regulate building work and standards to ensure that buildings do not endanger the health, safety and wellbeing of the people who use them.

The policy was first adopted in 2006, and was reviewed and adopted in 2024. Council will review the policy every five years.
