Palmy Play Festival: Taiopenga ā-Rēhia 2024

Three girls hula-hooping in Te Marae o Hine at last year's play festival.

Palmy Play Festival is back for another year. It’s our chance to celebrate Palmy’s cultural diversity through the universal love of play.

We’re working with Manawatū Multicultural Council, Global Parents Support and lots of other awesome community groups to bring this event to life.

Everyone has the right to have some fun, and we know that play is a great way to bring people together. This is a free community event that celebrates popular games from around the world.

There will be a selection of games from around the world, with different community groups hosting play stalls.

Play, Collect, Win

Upon arrival, you can pick up a Play, Collect, Win pass from any stall – have a go at a game and collect a stamp. For every four stamps collected, you get a snack from the Global Parents Support prize table.

Sensory Chill Out Zone

We’re trialling our Sensory Chill Out Zone along with the introduction of Sensory backpacks.

The Sensory Chill Out Zone is for anyone who might need to take a moment and find a quiet space at anytime during the event.

The sensory backpacks are for anyone who require it and its filled with the below list:

  • Ear muffs
  • Weighted comfort teddy
  • Sunglasses
  • Fidget toy pack
  • Emotions cue card
