Remembrance Day 2024

Next date: Monday, 11 November 2024 | 11:00 AM

Picture shows a man in military uniform playing trumpet at a dawn service.

This is commemorated every year on 11 November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany to end World War I.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the guns fell silent.

Come join us and acknowledge the sacrifices of thousands of Kiwis who lost their lives in the war.

After the main service, guests are invited to a morning tea and a presentation at the Convention and Function Centre, beginning at 11.55am. Two new poppy sites will be announced during the presentation as part of the Poppy Places of Remembrance project run by the New Zealand Poppy Places Trust and the Royal NZ Returned and Services Association.
