Aspiring performers in Palmerston North now have an exciting opportunity to develop their talents, as applications are open for the Arts Heart educational development project.

This funding initiative, managed by Palmerston North City Council on behalf of the Palmerston North Performing Arts Trust, is here to help local performing arts organisations nurture the next generation of talent.

Margaret May, Chair of the Palmerston North Performing Arts Trust, is encouraging all eligible groups to apply.

"Supporting young talent in our community is something we truly value. With this funding, we aim to help young performers in Palmerston North reach their full potential. Whether it’s through workshops, summer schools, or master classes, we’re creating spaces where creativity can flourish, skills can grow, and dreams can be realised. We warmly invite all eligible organisations to take advantage of this opportunity.”

The funding is available for a wide range of performing arts projects, from song and dance, to acting and beyond. Up to $5,000 is available for each successful application.

Applications close on Sunday, 13 October 2024.

Last year’s recipients included Centrepoint Theatre, which held masterclasses in various performing arts disciplines like puppetry, circus skills, and acting; Rachel Lenart, who led the Manawatū Summer Shakespeare mentorship programme; and Anomaly Dance Trust, which hosted hip-hop and contemporary dance workshops.
