Ahimate Dog Park

Palmy's first fenced dog agility park is a secure place to take your pooch to play. At 3,000 square metres and containing six pieces of dog agility equipment, the dog park is the perfect place to either train your dog, or let them burn off some energy.

You asked for it, and here it is: Palmy's first dog park, featuring a dog agility course and enclosure, at Ahimate Reserve in Awapuni.

The dog park lies within Ahimate Reserve in Awapuni and is best accessed from the Maxwells Line entry.

The park came about as a direct result of community members making submissions to the city's annual plan asking for a fenced in area for dogs.

Water drinking areas, wash stations and dog poop bags are all on site.

The fenced area is ideal for small dogs, or dogs who aren't well-behaved when off leash. The park has been designed with the hope dog owners will relax and enjoy the wilderness while their dogs play.

Ahimate Reserve holds great cultural significance to Rangitāne so we worked with the iwi on the fence design, which is reminiscent of a pā entry.

The entire reserve is a dog off-leash area but we have a safety message for dog owners: Cars and dogs don't mix! Please help by using a leash as you move between the carpark and the reserve.
