What activities need approval?

  • Operating a food truck or coffee cart
  • Selling goods such as fresh produce, crafts, or other items

If you’re operating a food truck or coffee cart, you must also register your food business with New Zealand Food Safety or with us.

You can find out more about starting a food business and registering on the Ministry for Primary Industries website

Where can you trade?

You can apply to trade at the following locations:

You can also apply to trade at sportsgrounds, but this requires additional permission from the sports code chairperson.

Fees are different for each vendor

The cost of trading is based on what you’re selling and how long you plan to trade. Additional charges may apply for the site and power (if needed).

We'll provide a detailed pricing breakdown after you register your interest.

To make trading fair and safe, we have a few conditions

  • You can’t trade within 100 metres of a similar shop (e.g. coffee carts can’t set up next to a café).
  • You must comply with the District Plan for allowed activities in your chosen location.
  • No alcohol sales are permitted from mobile kiosks.
  • All vehicles must meet NZTA standards and be removed from the site daily.
