We are developing Adderstone Reserve

Feedback closed on Friday 16 August.

We are making some improvements on the green space at Adderstone Reserve in Aokautere.

We retained Adderstone Reserve following a proposal last year to rezone part of it for housing. During that process, you told us that preserving the green space was important to you, along with adding features like dog recreation areas, planting, and pathways. We’re bringing your vision to life.

We have a budget of about $85,000 for a range of improvements, so this isn’t enough to build any large structures such as toilets, basketball courts or playground equipment. These types of facilities are planned in other future reserves in Aokautere that are closer to more housing.

We sought feedback and held a planning session with neighbours in the area in August to fine-tune our plans ahead of construction in summer. Most of these suggestions were for pathways, planting, rubbish bins and to maintain a safe dogs off-leash area.

Following the feedback period, we’re inviting you to a drop-in session at Adderstone Reserve between 11am to 1pm on Saturday, 24 August.

You can tell us which elements should be prioritised within our budget – we will have some examples alongside their cost to help shape the plan.

We’ll be stationed at the Abby Road end of the open space part of the reserve – just enter from the walkway entrance on Pacific Drive – follow the signs, but it may be wet so make sure you bring your gumboots!

We appreciate your involvement as we improve Adderstone Reserve for everyone.
