Palmerston North City Council is notifying its intention to prepare the following reserve management plans, which set out how our parks and reserves are managed.
We invite your feedback by 24 November
General Policy Reserve Management Plan
This citywide plan will cover the day-to-day management of all reserves in Palmerston North. It would set out how Council will manage things like:
- community gardens
- management of events on reserves
- whether commercial activities are allowed (eg, food trucks)
- what recreational activities are permitted or excluded (eg, drones, motorbikes).
Omnibus Reserve Management Plan
This plan will cover specific types of reserves and how they will be managed, for example:
- neighbourhood reserves
- sports fields
- walkways network.
Kahuterawa Outdoor Recreation Plan
In addition, Council notifies its intention to review the existing management plan for outdoor recreation at Kahuterawa Reserve, Arapuke Forest Park and the Sledge Track.

Share your thoughts with us
If you wish to share your suggestions on any of the proposed reserve management plans prior to drafting, you must do so in writing no later than 5pm on Sunday 24 November.

Your feedback will help us create our draft plans. Once our draft plans are ready, you’ll have a chance to review them and make a formal submission.
