Public consultation on draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan

No longer on display. Expired on 09 May 2024, 05:00 PM

The Palmerston North City Council is calling for submissions on its draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan. This draft Plan sets out how we will minimise the amount of waste going to landfill over the next six years.

The draft plan sets the stage for some major changes:

  • By 2028, we're aiming to collect food scraps from everyone in the city, possibly including garden waste too.
  • We’re planning to upgrade our machinery at our recycling plant in Awapuni by 2026.
  • We're also going to review our kerbside collection services to find out if there's a smarter and more effective way to do things.

For more information, please read the consultation document on pncc.govt.nz/wasteplan. Printed copies of the consultation document are also available at our Customer Service Centre (Civic Administration Building, The Square) or at any of our libraries (the Central Library, and libraries at Ashhurst, Awapuni, Roslyn, Linton and Te Patikitiki), or call 06 356 8199 to have a copy sent to you.
