Building work information requests
A building work information request enables you to find out about any building work carried out on a property that Council holds on the property file. For example:
- building permits
- building consents.
It may also include details of unauthorised building work.
Make a request
You can request this information in person, by email or phone.
You'll need to provide us with the property address and your email address.
We'll be in touch within 1 business day.
We'll email you with the cost and payment details
The cost for building work information is charged per hour or part-hour of staff time, so varies from property to property. Residential requests start at $36. Expect to pay more for commercial property information, which typically takes longer so will cost more.
When we contact you about the fee, we'll provide our bank details so you can pay by internet banking. Or you can pay in person at our Customer Service Centre.
We'll action your request when we receive payment
The turnaround time for a work information request is usually 8 working hours from when we receive proof of payment (if you've paid by internet banking, this can be a screenshot of the transaction).
If the request is complicated or for a large commercial property, it may take longer. If this is the case, we'll let you know when we contact you.
Once the documents are ready, we will email you a link to an online file for you to download and keep.
