Want a well socialised dog? Here are some tips and tricks you can use.

  • Avoid off leash areas to begin with if they’re not comfortable around other dogs
  • Take them to one of our dog friendly cafes so they can learn to relax in public settings
  • Walk along the river pathway on leash to expose them to people, bikes and scooters
  • Take them across He Ara Kotahi to get them comfortable with different surfaces
  • Get them used to noises such as traffic and construction work
  • Ease them into new environments until they’re comfortable

Most importantly, reward for good behaviour after each experience.
