Papaioea Place social housing development

We built 85 warm and modern new homes at Papaioea Place between 2019 and 2023, increasing the availability of social housing in the city.

The properties are open-plan and future-proofed for any potential mobility needs. They're also double-glazed and well insulated, securing 4 and 5-star Lifemark certification.

Some of the homes replace older social housing units that were previously on the site. Others were additional.

The big picture

We want to ensure a healthy community where everyone has access to healthy, safe and affordable housing and neighbourhoods. The Council provides warm, safe and affordable housing to people on low incomes who are superannuitants, have long-term disabilities, or experience barriers to renting in the private market.
