We’re upgrading the watermain along Ashhurst and Stoney Creek Roads, near Bunnythorpe.
This project is being carried out by our Council water team and is part of our ongoing efforts to support city growth and improve the capacity of our wastewater system to manage increased flows.
Work will be ongoing until June, and will include six stages of construction from Raymond Street on Ashhurst Road to Nathan Place on Stoney Creek Road.
The project will consist of a mix of full and partial road closures, which are outlined below:
Stage 1: Raymond Street (Owen Street to Ashhurst Road)

- The Raymond Street/Ashhurst Road intersection will be closed.
- A detour will be in place via Kairanga Bunnythorpe, Campbell, and Ashhurst Roads.
Stage 2: Raymond Street and Ashhurst Road intersection
- The lane heading towards Ashhurst will remain open.
- Traffic heading towards Bunnythorpe will be detoured via Kelvin Grove and Stoney Creek Roads.
Stage 3: Ashhurst Road (Raymond Street to Stoney Creek Road)
The traffic management plan will remain the same as in Stage 2.
Stage 4: Ashhurst Road and Stoney Creek Road intersection + first part of Stoney Creek Road
- The lane on Stoney Creek Road heading towards Bunnythorpe will remain open.
- Vehicles heading east towards Ashhurst will be detoured via Ashhurst Road.
Stages 5 & 6: Stoney Creek Road to Nathan Place
- The lane heading towards Bunnythorpe will remain open, while the other lane will be detoured down Ashhurst Road.
