Thirty new social housing units for Papaioea Place tenants

Thirty new social housing units were blessed today, marking completion of the first construction phase of Papaioea Place, Palmerston North City Council's $7.3 million redevelopment project.

They replace 16 social housing units that were previously on the site.

The new units are open-plan, with eco-friendly and futureproof design to help enhance residents' quality of living. All units are double-glazed and well-insulated. They also have the 4-star Lifemark certification. This means they're equipped to meet tenants' lifetime mobility and agility needs.

We're excited our tenants can now make the new units their long-term home. We've appreciated our existing tenants' patience as the construction work was undertaken, but we know they'll be delighted with their new quality, affordable accommodation.

The next phase of the redevelopment will be the construction of 20 additional units. This will begin in mid-March, once all tenants of the new units have moved in.

With the opening of new 30 units at Papaioea Place, tenants are assured of modern, warm, long-term homes. One of those who moved is Helen Williams.
