How to enrol

You can enrol to vote anytime. Find out how.

If you're enrolled for the general election for Parliament, you'll automatically be placed on Council's electoral roll.

Check to see if you're enrolled or need to update your details

If you enrolled or updated your details before 4pm on Tuesday 22 December 2020, you'll receive your voting paper in the mail. Please complete and put in a DX post or voting box before noon on 17 February 2021.

If you haven't enrolled yet, or need to update your details, it's not too late! But you'll need to come in person to cast a special vote. Special voting will be available at Customer Service Front of House during usual business hours from 26 January 2021 until noon on 17 February 2021.

It's not too late to enrol

You can still vote if you enrol before 4pm on Tuesday 16 February 2021.

Fill in the online form on the Vote NZ website (see above). You can also:

  • download an enrolment form [PDF 406KB]
  • Visit a Post Shop
  • phone free on 0800 36 76 56
  • text your name and address to free text 3676 and the form will be posted out to you.

If your name is not on the final electoral roll, you may still qualify to cast a special vote.

Ratepayer electors

Registration to be included on the ratepayer roll for the February 2021 closed at 4pm on 22 December 2020. If you enrolled or updated your details before this date, you'll receive your voting paper in the mail. Please complete and put in a DX post or voting box before noon on 17 February 2021.

You may still apply to be included on this roll for the October 2022 local body election.

Palmerston North City Council ratepayers who live outside the Palmerston North City Council area can obtain a ratepayer elector enrolment form from the Palmerston North City Council offices or website and enrol up to 4pm on Tuesday 16 February 2021. You will need to come in person to cast a special vote. Special voting will be available at Customer Service Front of House from 26 January 2021 until noon on 17 February 2021.
