IQP register

An independent qualified person (IQP) is accepted by a council or a territorial authority as being qualified to carry out, supervise and certify inspections, maintenance and reporting procedures on specified systems for buildings.

Specified systems are systems or features that contribute to a building's continued performance, making it functional, safe and accessible for all.

There are 16 specified systems listed under the Building Act. Each is installed to a performance standard.

IQPs are able to carry out inspections, maintenance and reporting procedures for specified systems to ensure they continue to perform to their performance standard.

You can search our online register for an IQP. The register also identifies which specified systems the IQP is qualified to inspect.
